2027 DGS Excom Nominations Open!
Dear Denver Geophysical Society Members,
The DGS is seeking nominations for positions on the Executive Committee. Serving on the ExCom is an excellent opportunity to contribute to our professional community, help shape the Society’s programs and initiatives, and connect with fellow geoscience professionals.
We encourage you to nominate yourself or a colleague who is enthusiastic about supporting the Society and advancing its mission. We welcome nominations from members with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and career stages.
If you would like to submit a nomination, please reply to this email with:
- The nominee’s name
- The position of interest (if known)
- A brief statement of interest or qualifications (optional but appreciated)
Please submit nominations by August 1st.
Here is a brief overview of the open positions for 2027:
Vice President
Coordinates the annual luncheon speaker schedule and member social events (such as baseball and hockey outings). This position progresses through Vice President, President, Past President, and Past Past President over four years. The President serves as the Society’s representative and gives brief remarks at the Symposium and Holiday Luncheon. The Past President roles are primarily advisory with no formal duties.
Treasurer
Manages the Society’s finances, including monthly financial reports, invoicing, and payment processing through PayPal and QuickBooks. This is a two-year position to allow time for training and continuity.
Secretary
Records and distributes minutes from the monthly Executive Committee meetings.
Editor
Produces the quarterly newsletter, The Record, using existing templates. Responsibilities include gathering content and photos from Society events and coordinating newsletter articles. This is a one-year position.
