Privacy Policy

At The Denver Geophysical Society (DGS), a chapter of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), we are committed to protecting your privacy. We use the information we collect about you to provide member services, process orders, provide on-going support and supply membership announcements. Please read on for more details about our privacy policy.

What information do we collect? How do we use it?

Membership Information

When you apply for membership to DGS, we ask for you current employment information, home contact information, education background, and DGS areas of interest. We use this information to provide membership services such as luncheon and professional interest notices, voting ballots, DGS directory listing, committee activities, and select industry related information.

On-line Order Information

When you place an on-line order, we need to know your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone numbers, credit card number, and expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill your order and to notify you of your order status.

How does DGS protect customer information?

When you place orders or access your account information, we offer the use of a secure server. The secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Furthermore, all of the data we collect is protected against unauthorized access.

What about “cookies”?

“Cookies” are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information, but they do allow us to process the order information and transfer the information between subsequent pages. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. You must accept cookies to place an on-line order or access your membership information.

Will DGS disclose the information it collects to outside parties?

DGS does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. DGS may release account information when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to

  1. comply with law,
  2. enforce or apply the terms of any of our user agreements or
  3. protect the rights, property or safety of DGS, our members, or others.

In summary

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We use the information we collect on the site to make DGS on-line reservations and membership renewal possible and to enhance your overall membership experience. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.

Your consent

By using our Web site, you consent to the collection and use of this information by DGS. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
