CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS The Annual SEG Meeting and Exposition is coming to Denver September 26th – October 1. That is next week! Do you want to help the Meeting to run smoothly? Do you want to earn one or more half-days free admission to the Exposition, Technical Papers, and Poster Sessions? Do you want to Network with other geophysicists and vendors? Did I say earn one or more free half-days admission? YES. Volunteer to work a half-day shift get the other half of the day free. You can sign up on the following this message. Work multiple half-days and get the other half day free, each day. The signup sheet is HERE. Descriptions of the different volunteer needs are listed below:
Student Lounge Volunteers will greet Students as they enter the student lounge. They will alert IMAGE staff if anything is needed in the lounge. As the students leave the room, wipe down the table and chairs with disinfectant wipes. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual.
Badge Checker Each Badge Checker will be assigned a session corridor in order to monitor the attendees going to the session rooms. They will insure attendees have the proper badge to attend that particular session. If an attendee does not have the proper badge, they will directed to registration to obtain the proper badge. Note: Volunteers can at times find attendees intimidating. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual. The Badge Checkers for the session rooms will be working the Plenary Session Monday Morning. Then will have a short session after the plenary. Poster Assistance Volunteers will assist in-person presenters and provide them with timing, booth numbers, Velcro and push-pins to display their posters. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual.
Information Booth An information kiosk will be available and staffed by volunteers to assist attendees with questions. Volunteers will be provided a FAQ, tabled program book and technical program to be able to provide information. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual.
Registration Due to the increase of the Delta Variant, IMAGE is planning on having a “Delta Variant Comfort Level Dot System”. The dot system will be adhesive color dots applied to the attendee’s badges to indicate their comfort level. Examples (No touching, Space 6 feet away, etc.) We are still working on the details for this. The volunteers will hand out the color dots while wearing gloves so the attendees are not reaching into the bowl. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual.
Plenary Volunteers will pass out tickets to the first 200 attendees to receive a copy of Daniel Yergen’s new book. After the tickets have been passed out, the volunteers will enter the Plenary and discourage attendees from taking photos or videos. Volunteers will assist with seating to ensure no empty seats are left open. Volunteers can be students or professionals. Dress is business or business casual. The Badge Checkers for the session rooms will be working the Plenary Session Monday Morning. Then will have a short session after the plenary.
